Genealogy on GN Employees?

Sorry, but I cannot answer your questions on locating relatives who worked for the GNR.

Your best bet would be to join the GN Online Discussion group and post your genealogy question there.  We provide the following links only as a courtesy so you may look elsewhere.

The GNRHS and the J.J. Hill Library DO NOT have genealogy records. Please do not contact them regarding genealogy questions as they cannot help you.

The Railroad Retirement Board has genealogy information at:

http://www.rrb.gov/default.asp

The Minnesota Historical Society has genealogy information at:

http://www.mnhs.org/

For those of you on the other end of the GN system, try the Tacoma, WA Public Library's excellent genealogy collection at::

http://www.tpl.lib.wa.us/v2/nwroom/genea.htm

John Phillips, III over on the Northern Pacific web site has put together a very helpful genealogy reference entitled The NP and Genealogy

There is also a railroad-related genealogy site at: http://www.cyndislist.com/railroad.htm

Keep in mind that both GN and NP records are stored at the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul. Their web site has a working search engine.
